Sarah and went to Sardinia for the weekend. Sardinia is the large island to the west of Italy and is actually an Italian state.
We left at home at 0330 on the Friday morning and flew into Alghero at 10am local time. I had booked us an sporty 4 door, manual Alfa Romeo - planning on some driving enjoyment. Unfortunately my license hadn't arrived from NZ in time, so it was Sarah who had to drive. She prefered the 2 door auto.
The first day we drove around the north-west coast. The second day we drove around the north-east coast, the third day we drove across the middle and the fourth day we drove across the middle and left.
Italians are crazy drivers. We couldn't tell if the speed limit was in kms or miles. The car was in kms so we went with that. Driving down the road at 80kms we were being passed by everyone including little nanna's. So we figured that it was in miles. By the end of the trip, Sarah was rocketing down the motorway at 140km and we were still being passed by fools in their Audi's going like 200km!

Hmmm, driving on the other side of the road was fun. Sarah drove into oncoming traffic twice! Very scary. The navigation was a challenge too. One night we got lost in the mountains and went through the same town 3 times!
The weather was cool. I got down to my singlet only once, and even then it was cause I was determined to!
I loved speaking Italian. All we had was a little phrase book. By the end of the holiday, I managed to have a conversation with the barman asking if the office will be open at 0630, and how to check out if it was closed. I was really fun. I enjoyed it.
