Engaged

Boozers at home

So we got the ring, so we had a party with heaps of friends. You might call it an "engagement party".

We had drinks at our house with the boozers that came early then went out to a pub in Angel. It was great to see heaps of people already there when we turned up. It was a great night of drinking and laughing. Both Sarah and I had a really great time.

We like Skype

We like Skype. Actually I like Skype. Sarah hasn't used it, so she says that she 'Isn't opposed to it'. So We like Skype.

So I can call mums phone in NZ for 1p per minute which is pretty good. My uncle has a web cam so I tried that out. It's come a long way since 1998 with stamp sized video and audio via the a mobile phone. Decent sized video, crystal clear voice and it worked for 30 mins with no glitches. Oh, and very free. Awesome.

We like skype.

If you want to video skype me, remember the 12 hour difference and my skype username is jscott.nz

The Proposal

The Proposal

Yep, its official. We are engaged. On top of a mountain in Sardinia, I asked Sarah to marry me.

The plan was to be on top of a mountain at sun-set with the camera on the tripod snapping photos.
The night before we flew to Sardinia I was frantically running around looking for the tripod. I was getting really agitated and injured (got a splinter under my finger nail - ouch). Sarah couldn't understand why I was getting so worked up about it!
On the last day I knew things were not going to go as planned cause it was raining and windy - so all though out the day I was looking for opportunities, getting myself all stressed and annoying Sarah with stupid, failing photo shoots.
Anyway, we ended up on top on the mountain and Sarah wanted to smell the wet mountain air. The tripod went up well. Camera started shooting, and the rest is history!

See accepted of course - even with out a ring.

The ring. We are getting one made by the jeweler that made the sapphire ring. 3 diamonds. What a lucky girl eh!

Sardinia!

Sarah and went to Sardinia for the weekend. Sardinia is the large island to the west of Italy and is actually an Italian state.
We left at home at 0330 on the Friday morning and flew into Alghero at 10am local time. I had booked us an sporty 4 door, manual Alfa Romeo - planning on some driving enjoyment. Unfortunately my license hadn't arrived from NZ in time, so it was Sarah who had to drive. She prefered the 2 door auto.

The first day we drove around the north-west coast. The second day we drove around the north-east coast, the third day we drove across the middle and the fourth day we drove across the middle and left.

Italians are crazy drivers. We couldn't tell if the speed limit was in kms or miles. The car was in kms so we went with that. Driving down the road at 80kms we were being passed by everyone including little nanna's. So we figured that it was in miles. By the end of the trip, Sarah was rocketing down the motorway at 140km and we were still being passed by fools in their Audi's going like 200km!

Hmmm, driving on the other side of the road was fun. Sarah drove into oncoming traffic twice! Very scary. The navigation was a challenge too. One night we got lost in the mountains and went through the same town 3 times!
The weather was cool. I got down to my singlet only once, and even then it was cause I was determined to!

I loved speaking Italian. All we had was a little phrase book. By the end of the holiday, I managed to have a conversation with the barman asking if the office will be open at 0630, and how to check out if it was closed. I was really fun. I enjoyed it.

Check out the photos here - there is a (big) surprise if you look through them!
