Something interesting at work

Well I guess that one of the advantages to working for the British Mediacal Association Publishing Group, is that went your computer isnt working I can read up on 'Beta-adrenoceptor blocking drugs' or 'Ergot alkaloids' or 'Antispasmodics and other drugs altering gut motility' or my favourite 'Emergency treatment of poisoning'.

Did you know that Alcohol Poisoning is common in adults and features include ataxia, dysarthria, nystagmus, drowsiness, hypotension and acidosis - i call it a hangover.

Well then, if anyone has any problem, just drop me a line and I can look up and see if you have ataxia or something!

Happy quarter-of-a-century!

Oh my, I am old.

A quarter of a century.

July the 8th, 2006 marked the end of youth and the beginning of old man.

May he rest in peace

WHAT EVER!

I had a great birthday! Sarah and I went to a nice cafe of brunch in Angel which is a bar, cafe district. Wandered around a funky homeware shop where I bought some stuff for my new flat. Then I got inspired... its my birthday... lets shop like is my birthday! I remembered seeing my favourite label shop in the Oxford St area - Ben Sherman! So we made a bee-line to Ben Sherman, who incidently knew that I was coming and had a half price sale! SWEEEEEEET!

We shopped some more and I bought some clothes for Sarah's birthday - see top she is wearing in last blog photos on my birthday bash.

I also faced reality... I bought some "anti-expression lines" cream. I am getting on now so I should be looking after my youthful appearance!

Went out that night - was great see blog entry below.

Catchup #1 June and July

Well its been a while since I updated the old blog and I have had complaints from my readers so here goes.

June was really my first month in London and the weather was stunning, so naturally I spent some time seeing some of the sights: Trafalger Square, Buckingham Palace...blah blah

We where in one of the park and we heard a massive explosion - Sarah got freaked out and I just go curious. Then there was another, then another. There were 3 or 4 cannons firing for some celebration. We dont really know what it was but there were military horses too.

Went on a cruise down one of the cannels to a place called Little Venice. Was really pretty and relaxing!

Piccadilly Circus is an interesting contrast of old building and modern advertising hell.

Relaxing in the summer heat... went to the beach at Southend. An hour on the train and £6 return - what a bargin. Nothing like drinking beer on the beach with a million others!

Working at the British Medical Assocation is great - I love my job. I am writing software to help junior doctors fill out all their forms that can span upto a year. Heaps of interesting challanges etc. The people are friendly to and we end up to the pub for lunch! The tube basically sucks. The weather is in the 20's and 30's and the tube has its own micro-climate of 30's and 40's. Not nice, especially with delays caused by the heat - trains going slow at not to de-rail on buckled tracks.

July 7 marked the first year after the London Bombings. The bus exploded right outside my work. They say that there was a huge explosion and they looked out the window and saw a huge plume of black smoke and people abandoning their cars and running. Aweful. There was a commeration service held outside work, where they fenced of the exact area where the bus was, and had a private garden set up for the families. Very erie and sombre

Sarah and I love getting tarted up and going out. The top image was a last minute "Lets go out to a Jazz bar tonite", and so we did. The other image was on Sarah's birthday when I took her out for dinner and a show - Guys and Dolls. It was a great night and Sarah got stopped in the street by a lady who told her that "she looked like one of those ladies out of the magazines" - I assume she ment a girly magazine, not a mans one!

And of course we like to let our hair down, the most recent fun was my birthday bash with Sarah, Allan, Nathan and Myke. It was great fun at the Red Back in Acton Town ("Action" Town). It was really great catching up with some mates. I have been a little home sick with regard to family and friends. Mum sent over a set of photos that was sitting undeveloped in my draw for a couple of years - so to get that for my birthday was a surprise - photos of fun times with friends in chch.

As per normal, more photos are available here and here
