Woooo Hooooo

I have a JOB!!!!

Its working for the British Medical Association creating systems to streamline doctors paper work!

It is really perfect - it pays a rediculous amount, it is 4 tube stops away, about 9 minutes, it is short (3 months) but could extend if I want cause they are expanding furiously!

Start on thursday so I have 3 days to relax and do what ever I want to do!

OH JOY!

London in the summer & job hunting

I love London in the summer. Here are the forecasts just to rub it in:
today 25
tomorrow 26
sunday 27
monday 28
these are temperatures not dates!!!

So, been out in the parks, enjoying the sun!

Also spent alot of time looking for jobs. I have joined a consultancy to help me in the hunt. They are specialist in the IT sector and have been teaching me heaps about how the market works over here. So, heres the rundown:

Clients (the employer) push vacancies out to their 5 perfered agencies - there are over 11,000 agencies.
Agencies advertise the job position.
Thousands of applicants apply online - so the game is to get out of the pool and become as many agents best friend as possible, develop relationships with them and make sure they think of you first!!
Each preferred agents (5 of them) , send the client 3 CVS out of the 1000's of applicants.
Out of the 15 CVs the client receives, they choose 5 to interview
1 person gets the job.

So if you dont know the game - at best you have a 1 in a 1000 chance of getting the job.
So i have been learning the game, and it is quite fun - playing the agents at their own game!

The agents are only there to make a buck, and they have dirty dirty tactics which I wont go into, but one is that they place fake listings on job sites, just to harvest CVs. They then ring you up and ask you where else you have applied, then promptly ring that place and offer another person for the role, effective shooting me in the foot!

So... its fun.

So I had a phone interview today, it went really really well and I have been told that I based on the interview I have the job - the client is just ticking boxes and confirming resources, so all is good. The agent was good to, didnt seem to be a cowboy like some of the others!

Im happy here at the moment.

Not all that glitters is gold...

Man finding... i mean "waiting" for a job sucks.

I have now been looking for a job now for 5 days. The first day was very misleading with a million phone calls from recruiters that were so confident in having the "perfect" job for me and offering the world. Every day since then I have had about 4 calls with new jobs that would "suit" me - I have now learnt to take all this with a grain of salt, as my wonderful mother would say.

So, it is really a game of waiting for the calls, talking the talk and seeing if anything comes out of it. I have been only looking for contact work that can pay heaps, but realising that maybe I'm not quite ready for contracting and should concider permanent positions that still pay a really good wage but arn't so flexible. Will start looking into that in another week as some people have said that it usually takes a couple of weeks to get your first contract.

So, as you can imagine i've been up and down all week.

I have decided to begin studying to bring myself upto scratch with everything, maybe if I get myself ready, the universe will realise that I am serious about this and hook me up, bro!!

Anyway, other than that all is well.

I have a new cell phone number (which I am not putting on here, who know what telemarketers a looking at this!), I will send out an email but if you don't get it please email me.
